Arlington Man Charged In Mirror Thefts, Damage To 104 Vehicles: Police
An Arlington man has been charged in connection with a series of thefts and damage to vehicles across the county, according to police.

ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington man has been charged in connection with a series of sideview mirror thefts and damage to vehicles across the county, according to the Arlington County Police Department.
The suspect is accused of stealing or damaging the glass from sideview mirrors of parked vehicles across the county. In total, police received 61 reports documenting 104 vehicles with stolen or damaged mirrors, police said.
Luis Manuel Tavares Sanchez, 37, was charged with nine counts of petit larceny and 10 counts of destruction of property, two of which are felony charges, according to police. He is being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility.

Tavares Sanchez was taken into custody on Wednesday, according to police. As the investigation into the theft and damage continues, additional charges may be sought at a later time, police said.
In late April, police began investigating a series of thefts in which the suspect would steal or damage the glass from sideview mirrors of parked vehicles. Detectives reviewed evidence, spoke to witnesses and followed up on investigative leads that led to the identification of Tavares Sanchez, police said.
