Bikeshare Stations May Come To Gravelly Point, Roosevelt Island
Capital Bikeshare stations may be installed at Gravelly Point and Roosevelt Island, Arlington County officials said.
ARLINGTON, VA — Two popular spots along the Mount Vernon Trail — Roosevelt Island and Gravelly Point — may get Capital Bikeshare stations soon.
The Arlington County Board will discuss a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Park Service at their Saturday meeting. The agency has to approve the new stations because they would be located on NPS land.
The memorandum states that the County will install and maintain the bikeshare facilities and "ensures that the NPS has no financial liability with respect to this service."

"The County commits to maintain the stations and station areas in good condition, prohibit ads on the stations, and restore the area from which any station is removed," the memorandum states.
The Bikeshare system is designed to provide short, point-to-point transportation from one location to another.

Residents can join Bikeshare for an annual, daily or three-day fee, or a ride for up to 30 minutes at a time. Once people enroll in Bikeshare, they can pick up their key at the key dispenser at any Bikeshare station. Alternatively, people can opt for a $2 single-trip fare, which doesn't require a key.
There are 85 Bikeshare stations in Arlington as of 2017, as well as 89 miles of bicycle routes and jogging trails.
