Candlelight Vigil For Arlington Marine Killed In Training Exercise
A candlelight vigil will be held Thursday night in Arlington in honor of Spencer Collart, who died in a training exercise in Australia.

ARLINGTON, VA — A candlelight vigil will be held Thursday night in Arlington in honor of Spencer Collart, who was one of three Marines killed in a crash of a Marine V-22B Osprey during a training exercise in Australia on Aug. 27.
The vigil will be held at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday in the 3200 block of 23rd Street North in the Maywood neighborhood of Arlington.
Community members are asked to bring only battery-operated, not burning candles. Collart’s family will also have battery-operated candles to hand out to community members.

Collart, who graduated from Washington-Liberty High School in 2020, first enlisted in the Marine Corps on Oct. 26, 2020, and was promoted to the rank of corporal in February. He served in Pensacola, Florida, and Jacksonville, North Carolina, before arriving at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe Bay, according to a news release.
His awards included the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

The other Marines who died in the Aug. 27 crash were Capt. Eleanor LeBeau, 29, of Belleville, Illinois, an Osprey pilot, and Maj. Tobin Lewis, 37, of Jefferson, Colorado, the squadron’s executive officer.
