'Canstruction' NoVA Hunger Relief Event Coming To Pentagon City Mall
Teams of architects in Arlington will be building sculptures made out of canned goods. The public will get to vote on their favorite.
ARLINGTON, VA — Fashion Centre at Pentagon City is hosting the annual Canstruction Northern Virginia event in partnership with the American Institute of Architects Northern Virginia Chapter.
The annual hunger relief initiative features teams of architects from local firms HGA, Jacobs, KGD (Kishimoto. Gordon. Dalaya PC), Little, MFTA Architecture, RRMM Architects, Samaha Associates, P.C. and Wiley|Wilson, where each team will build creative sculptures made entirely out of donated canned goods.
The public is invited to watch the competition from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8 and vote for their favorite build through Monday, Sept. 11.

The structures will be on display in the Metro level food court and the first level of the Nordstrom Court at Fashion Centre at Pentagon City until Sept. 17, after which all canned goods will be donated to the Arlington Food Assistance Center for distribution in the community.
Shoppers are invited to donate canned goods or make a cash donation to AFAC through QR codes at the Canstruction display through Saturday, Sept. 16.
