Driver Escapes Authorities After Eluding VA State Police On I-95/I-395
A driver eluded capture after being pursued by a Virginia State Police trooper in Prince William and Arlington counties on Wednesday.
ARLINGTON, VA — Federal, state and local law enforcement officers are looking for a driver involved in a high-speed pursuit in Prince William and Arlington counties early Wednesday morning, according to the Virginia State Police.
After spotting a vehicle being driven reckless on southbound Interstate-95 around 4:48 a.m., a state trooper tried to condct a traffic stop at the 162-mile marker in Lorton, according to VSP. When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.
Exiting the interstate at Route 294/Prince William Parkway, the driver led the trooper through multiple roads in Prince William County. The driver then turned onto Route 123 toward Route 1 and Interstate 95, according to the incident report. At Route 1, the driver headed north, sideswiping another vehicle, before re-entering Interstate-95. This time, the driver was heading north.

"The pursuit then continued on Interstate 95 northbound and onto Interstate 395 northbound, where a trooper was successfully able to deploy spike strips prior to the vehicle reaching the Washington, D.C., city limits," according to VSP. "Troopers were able to stop the vehicle, but the suspect driver fled from the car, leaping off the bridge and onto a catwalk, fleeing the scene."
A search was instigated but proved unsuccessful, according to VSP, which was assisted by officers from Arlington County Police, U.S. Park Police, and the Metropolitan Police Department.
