Indecent Exposure Suspect Already Had Court Date For Drug Charges: Police

A 34-year-old man arrested in Green Valley Tuesday was already scheduled to appear in court for a drug arrest in April, court records say.

ARLINGTON, VA — A 34-year-old man who was arrested for indecent exposure Tuesday night in Green Valley already had an upcoming court appearance scheduled for next week on unrelated drug charges, according to authorities.

Officers from the Arlington County Police Department responded around 10:53 p.m. for a disorderly conduct report in the 3200 block of 24th Street South. A witness told police that they were inside a parking garage when they noticed a man exposing himself, according to the incident report.

The officers located a man matching the description of the suspect, whom they identified as Andrew Rose of an undetermined address, police say. Rose was arrested and charged with indecent exposure and public intoxication. He was then held without bond.

Rose was arraigned Wednesday morning in Arlington General District Court and had a bond hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, according to court records. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 18.

Rose already has a hearing scheduled for Monday in Arlington General District Court in connection to an April 12 arrest, according to court records. He faces four charges:

  • Drugs: possession of a Schedule I/II substance (Class 5 felony)
  • Unauthorized possession of drug paraphernalia (Class 1 misdemeanor)
  • Obstruction/resisting arrest without force (Class 1 misdemeanor)
  • Petit larceny (Class 1 misdemeanor)

This case was adjudicated on July 22 and is currently under review, according to court records.

If Rose is convicted on the felony drug possession charge, he faces a possible sentence of one to 10 years in prison, according to the Code of Virginia. At the court's discretion, the punishment could be reduced to confinement in jail for up to 12 months and a fine of up to $2,500.

The indecent exposure charge is a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia and carries a potential penalty of up to 12 months in jail, a fine of up to $2,500, or both. The public intoxication charge is a Class 4 misdemeanor, which is punishable by a fine of up to $250.
