ARLINGTON, VA — Pentagon police arrested a man with a history of mental illness after he drove onto Pentagon grounds with a loaded shotgun and an open bottle of whiskey, according to a report.

NBC 4's Scott McFarlane tweeted a screenshot of the charging documents, which identify the man's surname as Lawson.

He had an open 1.75-liter bottle of Jim Beam Vanilla, multiple knives including a machete, and a loaded 12-gauge shotgun, which police found after a search of his vehicle, according to the report.

The document also notes that he had a "green leafy substance wrapped in white paper," and "spoke incoherently and did not answer my questions directly."
