ARLINGTON, VA — A man was arrested after he stood in traffic screaming obscenities in Arlington and then struck a responding police officer, police say.

Police were called to the unit block of N. Glebe Road at around 7:49 a.m. on Tuesday to a report of a person "acting disorderly and yelling obscenities while standing in traffic," according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department.

The man struck an officer before trying to flee the scene on foot, but police took him into custody after using a taser on him, the report states.

Police charged 56-year-old Steven Goodyke with assault and battery on police and disorderly conduct.
