Student Arrested For Easter Bomb Threat At Marymount University

A student was arrested for making a bomb threat against Marymount University on social media on Easter Sunday, police said.

ARLINGTON, VA — A student was arrested for allegedly making a bomb threat against Marymount University in Arlington on Easter, causing the campus to evacuate Sunday morning.

Police arrested Samuel Nwalozie, 18, of D.C. and charged him with Communicated Threats to Bomb a Structure for making threats on social media.

Officers responded to the campus at 2807 N Glebe Rd. at about 8:49 a.m. for the report of a bomb threat posted on social media.

"Because of the seriousness of the threat, and in an abundance of caution, police decided to evacuate the campus," Marymount University officials said in a statement.

Arriving officers developed a possible suspect description based on information contained in the social media post and information provided by a witness, police said.

Nwalozie was located just outside of campus and was taken into custody shortly after 12 p.m. Sunday.

"Out of an abundance of caution, EOD K9s continued to sweep campus prior to its re-opening. The investigation determined there was never a physical threat to the safety of the students, staff of campus," the Arlington County Police Department said.

Nwalozie is being held in the Arlington County Detention Facility without bond, police said.

"We want to express our sincere appreciation to the law enforcement officers who responded promptly to protect the safety of our campus community," Eric Hols, Marymount University of Campus Safety & Emergency Management, said in a statement. "We will continue to cooperate fully as their investigation continues."
