Traffic Stop Results In Concealed Weapons Charge For MD Man: ACPD
During a traffic stop in the Virginia Highlands area, a police officer recovered a concealed weapon from a Maryland driver, ACPD says.
ARLINGTON, VA — A 53-year-old Maryland man is facing a weapons charge after he was found to be carrying a loaded firearm during a traffic stop in the Virginia Highlands area on Thursday night, according to authorities.
An Arlington County police officer initiated the traffic stop after seeing a driver traveling in the 1400 block of South Joyce Street make several moving violations, according to the incident report.
"As a result of the investigation, the driver was suspected of being under the influence and was taken into custody," the report said. "During a search incident to arrest, a loaded firearm was recovered from the vehicle."

Keith Hickson of La Plata, Maryland was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and carrying a concealed firearm while under the influence of alcohol, according to police.

Hickson was later released on his own recognizance and has an arraignment scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m., according to court records.
The firearm charge is a Class 1 misdemeanor, which carries a maximum penalty of up to one year in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500, under the Virginia Code.
