Virginia Square-GMU Metro Station Evacuated For Smoke In Tunnel

Firefighters are on the scene at Virginia Square-GMU Metro Station after reports of smoke in the tunnel. Train service suspended.

ARLINGTON, VA — Firefighters are on the scene at Virginia Square-GMU Metro Station in Arlington after reports of smoke in the tunnel, authorities said. The station has been closed and evacuated Thursday morning.

The Arlington County Fire Department said crews are working to fix the cause of the smoke.

Orange and Silver Line trains are suspended from East Falls Church to Clarendon, WMATA said. Blue Line trains are also delayed.
