Walkinshaw Kicks Off Re-Election Bid For Braddock District Supervisor
James Walkinshaw announced he is running for re-election as the Braddock District's member on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

ANNANDALE, VA — James Walkinshaw officially announced that he is running for re-election as the Braddock District’s representative on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. The Democrat was first elected to the board in 2019.
Walkinshaw, who launched his re-election campaign in Annandale on Sunday, was joined by more than 100 supporters and constituents.
At the event, Walkinshaw, who entered office only a couple months before the COVID-19 pandemic hit Virginia and the rest of the country, said he is proud of the work done in Fairfax County and the Braddock District “to make it through a global pandemic, to come out of it even stronger than when we entered it,” Annandale Today reported.

“We literally helped hundreds of people get access to testing, to get access to vaccines, and get access to meet their basic needs to survive,” Walkinshaw said about efforts to help people in the Braddock District, according to the news report.
The Braddock District includes areas of Burke, Springfield, Annandale and parts of the county bordering Fairfax City.

With election primaries coming up in June, Walkinshaw still does not have a primary opponent. No Republicans have announced plans to run against him, Annandale Today reported.
Walkinshaw succeeded Braddock District Supervisor John Cook, a Republican, on the Board of Supervisors. Cook decided not to run for re-election in 2019 after serving three terms on the board.
Walkinshaw defeated Irma Corado in the Democratic primary in June 2019. He then won the general election in November 2019, with 60 percent of the vote.
Prior to his election to the board, Walkinshaw served as chief of staff to Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) for 12 years.
