'Out of my Mind' Featured in 11th Annual 1Book 1Community Reading Program
Sharon Draper will give a public presentation of her 2010 novel "Out of my Mind" at Rust Library Tuesday, Oct. 28.

This year’s 1Book 1Community reading program will feature Sharon Draper’s 2010 novel, “Out of my Mind.” Copies of the book are available at library branches, the County Government Building and through Outreach Services beginning Tuesday, Sept. 16.
“Out of my Mind” is the story of 10-year-old Melody, a fifth grade girl born with cerebral palsy. Though she is equipped with a “brilliant mind, a photographic memory, and dreams and desires,” Melody has never spoken a single word. Stuck inside her own head, Melody feels she is going out of her mind until she discovers a tool that will allow her to speak for the very first time.
Draper will give a public presentation Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. at Rust Library in Leesburg. The program, sponsored by the A.V. Symington Gift Fund, is free and open to the public. Accompanying programs and book discussions will be offered at all eight library branches through October.
