
Dr. William Stanley Rokus, VMD, 83 passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Heritage Hall Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Leesburg, VA.
Bill was born on Friday, Aug. 30, 1929, in Mildred, PA. He was the youngest of six children born to the late John and Blanche Rokus.
He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.

He was a graduate of Duke University where he was a member of the football team. Upon graduation from the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical School, he opened his practice, Rokus Veterinary Hospital, in Leesburg from 1965 to 2003 devoted to caring for both large and small animals.
Yet another of his accomplishments was obtaining his pilot’s license. He was a well–rounded athlete and loved tennis or a brief basketball scrimmage in the midst of his hectic schedule. However, his boundless energy also permitted him to pursue his lifelong passion of foxhunting and bird hunting.

He was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.
Dr. Rokus leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, Jennifer Rokus Heath of Charlotte, NC, and Lori Rokus of Fairfax, VA; sister-in-law: Edith Rokus, and three nieces Judy Musheno, Marlene Kakretz, and Susan Rokus. His former wife is Joan Gillette Rokus.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be sent to Friends of the Thomas Balch Library, PO Box 2184, Leesburg, VA 20177; or to University of Pennsylvania Raker-Tulleners Endowed Fund for veterinary research at New Bolton Center, 382 West Street Road, Kennett Square, PA 19348.
