
Twenty-three recruits graduated from Loudoun County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management’s 28th Recruit Academy graduated earlier this month during a ceremony at Tuscarora High School.
Clerk of the Circuit Court Gary M. Clemens swore in the recruits in, while County Administrator Tim Hemstreet, Fire Chief W. Keith Brower Jr., Fire-Rescue Commissioner Doug Rambo and Deputy Chief Jose Salazar looked on. Also in attendance were Supervisor Geary Higgins of the Catoctin District and Supervisor Janet Clarke of the Blue Ridge District.

The ceremony featured special guest speaker Chief Dennis Rubin, who spoke to the recruits about the importance of continued training and commitment to career development.
Special recognition goes out to the Recruit Class 28 top recruit, Donald Vick, Alex Keepers Memorial Award (for most improved recruit) winner Larry Settle, Jr. and class spokesman, Douglas Sills.

“This is a proud moment for our fire-rescue system,” said Chief W. Keith Brower Jr. “Through their dedication to our core values, teamwork, integrity, professionalism and service, these fine individuals will make valuable contributions to our community.”
The recruits now begin their careers as Loudoun County Firefighter/EMTs. The Recruit Academy lasted 26 weeks and consisted of more 1,000 hours of training. The following Firefighter/EMT’s will be assigned to various fire and rescue companies throughout the county:
