Jeannette Scott Thornton, 86, of Leesburg, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at her residence.
She was born Oct. 1, 1926, in Loudoun County to the late Clarence H. Scott and Louise Scott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Golden Thornton who passed in May of 1998.
She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Aldie, VA, where she was previously a choir member, Sunday school teacher, and the clerk.

She is survived by her three children: Robert Thornton of Leesburg, Lillian Smith of Leesburg, and Timothy Thornton of Leesburg, VA; her son-in-law Charles E. Smith Jr. of Winchester: a brother: Reverend Dr. William Scott of Fredericksburg, VA; three grandchildren: Andrea Smith, Leslye Wallace, and Charles Smith; two great-grandchildren: Deon and Kaelynn Wallace; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel with Reverend Dr. Harold Stinger officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Haymarket, VA.
