Ray Blazier, 73

Ray Blazier, 73, of Lovettsville, VA, died suddenly Tuesday, March 5, 2013, in Leesburg, VA. Mr. Blazier was born May 20, 1939 in White County, IL, to the late Adrian and Maxine Lewis Blazier. He received his undergraduate degree from George Washington University and his master’s from George Mason University. Mr. Blazier was an economist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 20 years before retiring in 1996. In his retirement Mr. Blazier was a substitute teacher for math, science and social studies at the high school level in Loudoun County. Throughout his life, he enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and traveling. He will be remembered for being able to hold a lively conversation on virtually any subject.

Mr.Blazier is survived by his beloved wife Mary Anne Blazier of Lovettsville; four children: Anthony Blazier of Leesburg, Charmin Blazier of South Riding, VA, Kimberly Blazier of South Riding, Alice Stone, MD, of Arlington, VA; a sister: Alice Merritt of Norris City, IL; four grandchildren: Gabrielle “Ella” Stone, Hannah Blazier, Delilah Stone and Bailey Blazier; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, March 11, at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle SE, in Leesburg. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 12 at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in Columbia Gardens Cemetery, in Arlington, VA.
