
William Edward Powell Jr., 72, a lifelong resident of Loudoun County went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 16, 2013, in Bluemont, VA.
Mr. Powell was born in Middleburg, VA, to the late William E. Powell Sr. and Georgia Allison Powell. His wife, Zola Biggs Powell; a son, Dywayne Powell; and five siblings: Margaret McCauley, Russell Powell, Caryll Payne, Mary Laycock and Ida May Bayles also predeceased him.
He operated Powell’s Painting and Papering for many years before retiring in the early 2000s. Mr. Powell had a great sense of humor and enjoyed metal detecting and fishing, but above all he loved spending time with his family.

Mr. Powell is survived by his beloved four children: Brenda Powell–Schrider of Harpers Ferry, WV, Linda Payne of Front Royal, VA, Marty Thompson of Bluemont, VA, and Brian Powell of Bluemont, VA; a brother: Jerry Powell of Harpers Ferry, WV; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four nieces; four nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, May 20, at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle SE, in Leesburg. Funeral services are scheduled at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Leesburg Union Cemetery.
