Ashburn Man Gets 6½ Years on Child Porn Conviction

Sentence follows a plea to charges that investigators found more than 600 images and videos on computers in the man's possession.

A federal judge on Friday sentenced an Ashburn man to more than six years in prison, followed by lifelong supervised released, after he pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography.

U.S. District Court Judge T.S. Ellis III ordered the 78-month sentence for Blake David Coleman O’Gara, 30, who, according to court documents, downloaded images and video of child pornography from multiple websites, as well as a peer-to-peer file-sharing program, from October 2010 to October 2012. An Oct. 12, 2012, search executed under warrant found more than 600 images and videos of child pornography on computers in his possession.

The case resulted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood coordinates federal, state and local resources to help locate, apprehend and prosecute those who exploit children on the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
