Aunt, Nephew Share Millionaire's Raffle Prize Won In Ashburn
An aunt and nephew decided to split the $1M prize of a Virginia Millionaire's Raffle from a ticket bought in Ashburn.

ASHBURN, VA — An Ashburn man's gift to his aunt turned out to be a million-dollar decision for the both of them.
Miran Smith, an Ashburn resident, gifted his aunt Geraldine Smith a Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle ticket. The ticket was one of five tickets winning the top $1 million prize.
When the winning numbers were called on Jan. 1, he called his aunt to check the ticket number.

"You’re a millionaire!" Smith declared when he found out the ticket won.
"For real?" the aunt replied.

Smith and his aunt from Emporia, Virginia, decided to split the prize.
The winning ticket came from the Schmitz Sunoco at 42800 Creek View Plaza in Ashburn. Other $1 million winning tickets came from Fishersville, Henrico, Herndon and Moneta. Seven other tickets won $100,000 and were bought in Amelia, Charlottesville, Marshall, Midlothian, Tazewell, Woodstock and Yorktown. Another 1,000 tickets each won $500.
