132-Acre Park Near Potomac River To Reopen With Ribbon Cutting

A massive park near the Potomac River is set to reopen with a ribbon cutting after the county made improvements.

ASHBURN, VA — A public park near the Potomac River in the Ashburn area is preparing for a grand reopening after upgrades.

Bles Park, a 132-acre park between Route 7 and the Potomac River, will reopen with a ribbon cutting and celebration at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16. The event will be hosted by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, Loudoun County Departments of Parks, Recreation and Community Services, and Transportation and Capital Infrastructure. The public is invited to attend.

Bles Park is adjacent to the Potomac River and contains part of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail and is home to the Eastern Loudoun Adult Day Center. One highlight of the upgrades is an updated multigenerational playground with an ADA-compliant accessible surface, inclusive playground features and an exercise area. Other improvements include six new picnic pavilions, sports safety netting, a canoe and kayak launch along Broad Run, a new, expanded parking lot and paved and natural surface walking paths. Along with the updated features, the park has four sports fields, wetlands and natural areas.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, attendees can join Parks, Recreation and Community Services staff or a short, guided hike to the kayak and canoe launch, enjoy a self-guided story trail hike, and enjoy the updated park playground and other amenities.
