Crash With 2 Trucks Causes Miles Of Backups On Route 28

Traffic delays are building up from a Thursday morning crash involving two tractor-trailers at a Route 28 exit, according to VDOT.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A crash involving two tractor-trailers has caused miles of traffic backups and a ramp closure Thursday, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The crash happened in the area of the southbound Route 28 ramp to Route 267/Dulles Toll Road. VDOT noted that two trucks were involved but did not say if anyone was injured.

The southbound exit ramp to eastbound Dulles Toll Road is closed along with the right southbound lane. According to VDOT, traffic backups extend about 3.6 miles. Three southbound lanes remain open.

Officials expect a multi-hour closure for the crash investigation. As of 11:41 a.m. Thursday, VDOT said all lanes and ramps had reopened.
