Defiant Woman Assaults Cop In Ashburn: Police

A woman was arrested Wednesday night after exacerbating a police encounter by assaulting an officer in Ashburn, according to the LCSO.

ASHBURN, VA—A woman was arrested Wednesday night after exacerbating a police encounter by assaulting an officer in the 20300 block of Claiborne Parkway, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Melissa E. Lunt, 28, of Sterling, was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, public intoxication, trespassing on school property, obstruction of justice and possession of marijuana.

Shortly before 10 p.m., police spotted a vehicle with occupants parked outside Trailside Middle School. While an officer was checking out the situation, a passenger refused to comply with commands and was detained. That's when she kicked the door of the police cruiser, causing it to open and strike a deputy.

The driver, meanwhile, was issued a summons for trespassing.
