Driver Impaired In Crash With Loudoun School Bus: Sheriff

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A West Virginia driver was intoxicated at the time his SUV collided with a Loudoun County Public School bus on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The two-vehicle crash occurred about 3:22 p.m. Wednesday in the 34000 block of Leesburg Pike, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators determined the SUV driver was intoxicated at the time of the collision, a news release from the sheriff's office said.

Thomas Allen Broomall, 49, of Charles Town, West Virginia, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

One man was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, while two juveniles were treated at the accident site for minor injuries, the sheriff's department said.

Broomall was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and is being held without bond.
