Electric Vehicle Fees To Be Charged At Loudoun Metro Parking Garages
Loudoun County will begin collecting fees for electric vehicle charging at two Metro stations to support maintenance costs.

ASHBURN, VA — Use of electric vehicle chargers in Loudoun County Metro parking garages will soon result in a charge to commuters' wallets.
On Feb. 19, Loudoun County government will start charging electric vehicle charging fees for its county-owned Metrorail parking garages — Ashburn South and Loudoun Gateway. The change does not affect the Comstock-operated Ashburn North parking garage.
The price will be $2.10 per session, which ends when the plug is removed or the charge is complete. Electric vehicle charging has been free since the parking garages opened in 2022 with the new Silver Line Metro extension. Revenues will support operating costs of the 68 electric vehicle charging stations, including software, hardware, labor and electricity maintenance costs.

The fee at Loudoun County's Harmony Park and Ride lot at 39464 East Colonial Highway east of Hamilton will also increase from $1.44 to $2.10 per session.
Payments for electric vehicle charging can only be made through a mobile app connected to a credit or debit card at the charging station.
