Federal Employees Share Concerns At Congressman's Loudoun Town Hall
In a packed room at the Loudoun County Government Center, federal employees and contractors shared concerns about the administration.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — In Loudoun County, federal employees and contractors packed a town hall Monday to share their concerns about job security and actions of the new Trump administration.
Rep. Suhas Subramanyam, a Democrat who represents Loudoun County and the rest of the 10th Congressional District, held the town hall at the Loudoun County Government Center with a focus on federal cuts, the funding freeze that was later revoked and the new Department of Government Efficiency. The new congressman has received numerous messages from residents in the district about DOGE and other concerns. The town hall drew enough interest that attendance was limited, but a recording of the town hall is available.
According to Loudoun Now, Subramanyam encouraged federal employees to be wary of the buyout offer spearheaded by DOGE in exchange for a planned resignation later. The congressman said employees should speak to a lawyer or a union if they have one.

The town hall came as USAID has been one of the agencies affected by the Trump administration's changes. The Associated Press reported that a 90-day pause on foreign assistance affected the agency tasked with providing foreign aid, leading to some senior employees being placed on leave and thousands of contractor layoffs.
WTOP also reported town hall attendee concerns with businessman Elon Musk having access to secured information. Elon Musk is the sole leader of DOGE after Vivek Ramaswamy left the role in the early days of the administration.

Subramanyam, who is part of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, said DOGE has not engaged with Congress. He said the top priority is preventing a federal funding freeze and stopping mass layoffs, along with Congress reaffirming its funding authorization, according to Loudoun Now. He encouraged constituents to continue speaking up.
