Firefighter Trevor Brown Named Loudoun United's First Hometown Hero Of Year

Loudoun United's inaugural Hometown Hero of the Year will be the late Firefighter Trevor Brown, who was killed in a home explosion.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Fallen Firefighter Trevor Brown, who was killed in a Sterling home explosion in February, will be part of Loudoun United's new Hometown Hero of the Year honor.

Brown will be posthumously awarded the inaugural Hometown Hero of the Year. The award will be presented before Loudoun United FC's match against Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday, with kickoff at 7:15 p.m. Brown's wife, Laura, and three children will accept the award on his behalf.

"As a fire and rescue system, we are privileged to have the vast support of our Loudoun community members and partners, such as Loudoun United, who truly value our service and sacrifice," said Fire Chief Keith Johnson of the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System.

Brown was a Sterling Volunteer Fire Company firefighter who died in a Feb. 16 home explosion that injured over a dozen others. The 45-year-old had been with the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System since 2016 and is survived by his wife and three children. He is remembered not only as a firefighter but a father, husband, soccer coach and baseball coach.

"Trevor Brown’s heroism touched us deeply just a short six months ago, and his legacy continues to inspire us today," said Doug Raftery, Executive Business Officer of Loudoun United FC. "Our club extends its deepest condolences to Firefighter Brown’s family, friends, and colleagues. We hope that this award will ensure his name and selfless heroism are remembered in our community for many years to come."

Loudoun United FC created the Hometown Hero of the Year Award to honor local first responders, active and retired military members, and healthcare workers "for their exceptional service and dedication." Future award recipients will be chosen by community nominations.

The Hometown Heroes night at Loudoun United will also feature a pre-match tailgate at Anchor Bar, happy hour in the LUFC Beer Garden, free admission for kids under 14 wearing a sports jersey, Loudoun United and Marvel poster for the first 1,000 fans, and touch-a-truck with police, fire and EMS vehicles from Loudoun County.
