Loudoun County to Create Online, Real-Time Map for GIS Day
Celebrate the "mappiest day of the year" Wednesday, Nov. 19 by helping create an online, real-time map of Loudoun County during GIS Day.

Create an online, real-time map with photos of your favorite places in Loudoun County Wednesday, Nov. 19 in honor of GIS day, an annual celebration of Geographic Information Systems.
GIS Day aims to demonstrate how GIS is being used to improve the world. Sponsored by National Geographic Society, the Association of American Geographers, and Esri, Geography Awareness Week (which falls on the third week of November) was established in 1987 to encourage citizens to think and learn about “the significance of place.”
To participate, download a free app to your mobile device and use it to collect GPS points and photos of your favorite Loudoun County locations. For complete directions on how to take part in this community mapping project, visit www.loudoun.gov/gis and look in “Events” and stay up-to-date by following @LoudounMapping on Twitter.
