What's Open, Closed For Christmas 2025 In Ashburn

The Christmas holiday will result in multi-day closures for some services and other adjustments.

ASHBURN, VA — Families will get a holiday break from work and school to celebrate the Christmas holiday.

This year, Christmas falls on Thursday, Dec. 25. In Ashburn and the rest of Loudoun County, schools are closed for an extended break. Local government offices and some other services will be closed for several days.

Here are all the openings and closings to know around Ashburn and Loudoun County for Christmas Eve on Dec. 24 and Christmas Day on Dec. 25.

Loudoun County government offices: Closing at 12 p.m. on Dec. 24 and closed on Dec. 25 and 26.

Loudoun County Public Schools: Closed from Dec. 22 to Jan. 2.

ABC Stores: Virginia ABC stores will close at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 and be closed on Dec. 25.

Courts: Loudoun County courts are closed Dec. 24 to 26.

Department of Motor Vehicles: Virginia DMV locations will close at noon on Dec. 24 and be closed on Dec. 25 and 26.

Dulles Town Center: Open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 and closed on Dec. 25.

Leesburg Premium Outlets: Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 and closed on Dec. 25.

Libraries: Loudoun County Public Library locations will be closed on Dec. 24 to 26.

Loudoun County Transit: The Loudoun County Courthouse Shuttle from Pennington Garage and Lot to the Courthouse will stop running at 1 p.m. on Dec. 24. Commuter, local, paratransit, and transit on demand will run on normal schedules on Dec. 24. There will be no Loudoun County Transit bus service provided on Dec. 25. The Loudoun County Courthouse Shuttle from Pennington Garage and Lot to the Courthouse will not run on Dec. 26, but other bus services will run.

Metro: Dec. 24 will have a regular weekday schedule from 5 a.m. to midnight. Dec. 25 will bring a reduced Sunday service schedule to Metrorail from 6 a.m. to midnight.

Parks, Recreation and Community Services: Park offices, including the Hanson Park Nature Center and the Claude Moore Park and Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve Visitor Center are closed on Dec. 24 and 25. The Hanson Park Nature Center and the Claude Moore Park Visitor Center will return to normal hours on Dec. 26, but the Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve and visitor center is closed on Fridays in December. The Franklin Park Arts Center will be closed on Dec. 24 to 26 and return to normal hours on Dec. 29.

Recreation centers, community centers and the Round Hill Indoor Aquatic Center will close at noon on Dec. 24 and be closed on Dec. 25. Normal hours resume on Dec. 26, except day care resuming on Dec. 29.

Senior centers will close at noon on Dec. 24, with no lunch or transportation provided, and be closed on Dec. 25 and 16. Normal hours will resume on Dec. 27. All adult day centers will be closed on Dec. 24 and return to normal hours on Dec. 29.

Post offices: Closed on Dec. 25.

Trash and recycling: For private trash collection services, changes may vary. Check with your hauler for more information.
