LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — The return from winter break has been delayed once again at Loudoun County Public Schools.

For a third consecutive day, LCPS will close schools and offices on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The school division will make a decision by noon Wednesday if after-school activities will occur.

The school closure comes after Loudoun County government offices opened Tuesday and a special election was held in select areas. Courts remained closed on Tuesday.

A reason for the closing was not provided, but some roads may remain hazardous due to ongoing plowing efforts and refreeze of melting snow. LCPS makes weather-related closure decisions based on information from its transportation and safety and security services, utility companies and more sources.

According to the National Weather Service, overnight temperatures could hit the teens overnight and remain below freezing Wednesday.
