Loudoun County Ranks 1st For Population Growth In Virginia

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA—The southern and western United States are home to the counties that experienced the largest increases in population, according to new 2018 estimates released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau. While Loudoun County did not match these top counties, the population change between 2017 and 2018 was No. 1 in the Virginia.

According to the Census estimates, in Loudoun County, the population increased by 2.5 percent between July 1, 2017, and July 1, 2018. The estimated population change was an increase of 9,855 people to 406, 850.

In the top counties for population growth in Virginia, Loudoun County was followed by Chesterfield County, Prince William County, Fairfax County and Stafford County. Fairfax County maintained the highest population in Virginia.

On the metro level, the Washington-Arlington-Alexandria region ranked 10th for population growth. The Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington area had the largest numeric growth in population, followed by the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale area.
