Loudoun County Schools Make Schedule Changes For Feb. 6

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Loudoun County Public Schools has made a decision concerning school activities on Wednesday night and when students will be going to school on Thursday.

LCPS will operate on a two-hour delay on Thursday, Feb. 6, while administrative offices will open on time. For any Wednesday night activities, LCPS facilities will close at 9 p.m. The school district cited "unpredictability of the current weather forecast" and to give families extra planning time. Employees are encouraged to contact their supervisors for direction.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Loudoun County from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 12 p.m. Thursday. Forecasters anticipate a mix of light freezing rain, sleet, and snow starting Wednesday evening. That precipitation could transition into a steady freezing rain Wednesday night. As temperatures warm Thursday morning, the wintry mix could turn into rain.
