Loudoun Farm to Become Largest Commercial Hops Facility in Mid-Atlantic
Black Hops Farm, LLC in Lucketts will convert 15 acres of former pasture into a $1 million hopsyard and processing facility.

Black Hops Farm, LLC is preparing to build a the Mid-Atlantic’s first commercial-scale hops production and processing plant on a 15-acre farm in Lucketts, Virginia.
Black Hops Farm plans to invest in the site improvements, buildings, and equipment needed to convert the former residence and horse farm into a commercial hops production and processing facility. The company is expected to create 11 new jobs in Loudoun County and source more than 60 percent of their hops, equating to at least 3,500 pounds, from Virginia over the next three years.
Black Hops Farm fills a critical need for current and future craft brewers and builds on efforts to increase Virginia’s position in the fast growing craft beer industry, said Gov. McAuliffe, who is partially funding the $1 million facility through a grant from the Governor’s Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development Fund worth $40,000.
