STERLING, VA—A man was arrested Sunday night, April 21, following a bizarre incident in which he threatened two neighbors and then responding officers with a gun in the 21200 block of Windmill Parc Drive, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Marty D. Gausen, 44, of Sterling, was charged with three counts of brandishing a firearm, reckless handling of a firearm, simple assault and law enforcement and resisting arrest.

Shortly before 11 p.m., police were dispatched to the scene after a man said he and his wife were leaving their apartment only to be confronted by a neighbor—Gausen—standing outside with a gun. He "asked them why they were slamming doors." The couple promptly contacted authorities.

Upon arrival, police found Gusen in his apartment—still holding the gun. Deputies demanded he drop it, and he initially refused. A tense situation was diffused when he did finally drop the gun, but he nonetheless resisted arrest and continued not to cooperate as he was being taken into custody.
