Commuter Bus Routes From Other Counties To Loudoun Up For Feedback
Loudoun County is seeking input on its approved pilot program for commuter buses from Prince William County and Frederick, Maryland.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Two proposed commuter bus routes could hit the roads in Loudoun County later in 2025, but first the county is seeking public input.
Early in 2025, the Board of Supervisors had approved a pilot program for two new commuter bus routes originating in Dale City, Virginia, and Frederick, Maryland to employment centers in Loudoun County. Public feedback would inform and refine planning and implementation of the routes. The county estimates the proposed routes would begin in fall 2025.
The proposed Prince William County bus stops include the Dale City Commuter Lot, Manassas Commuter Lot, Dulles International Airport, and the Loudoun County Government Center.

The proposed Frederick, Maryland bus route would have stops at the New Design Road Park and Ride Lot, Inova Cornwall Hospital in downtown Leesburg, Loudoun County Government Center, Inova Loudoun Hospital, and One Loudoun in Ashburn.
The two routes would run Monday to Friday, potentially with hourly morning departures from 5 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., as well as hourly evening departures between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Loudoun County currently runs commuter bus routes from several park and ride lots to employment centers in Rosslyn, Crystal City, the Pentagon, and Washington, D.C. The county had completed its Commuter Bus Feasibility Study on bus service from surrounding localities in September 2024. The study examined current commuting patterns, existing transportation services, and data collection through surveys to employers and employees within Loudoun County. The county also did a ridership analysis on potential new routes as well planning on operating costs and bus routes.
Comments on the proposed bus routes will be accepted in a survey through March 21. For more information, visit the Commuter Bus Feasability Study website.
