Portion Of Road In Ashburn To Be Renamed, Roundabout Planned
Loudoun County is also planning a roundabout at one of the intersections on the route.

ASHBURN, VA — Loudoun County announced plans to add the Broadlands Boulevard name to portions of the route with other names.
The renaming will impact parts of Route 640 in Ashburn that are currently named Shellhorn Road and Faulkner Parkway. According to the county, that will make the name consistent between the intersections of Belmont Ridge Road and Waxpool Road, helping to eliminate confusion of multiple road names.
Property owners in the area are being notified of the name change by mail. New signage is expected to be fully installed by Aug. 1.

"In accordance with Chapter 1020: Naming of Streets of the Loudoun County Codified Ordinances, the choice of Broadlands Boulevard affects the fewest property owners," the county said in a news release. "It is also the most cost-efficient choice, requiring the replacement of the fewest number of street signs."
The county is making the road name change coincide with roundabout installation at one of the Route 640 intersections. The roundabout will be located at the current Faulkner Parkway and Waxpool Road intersection. Work on the roundabout could begin later in the summer.
