Nonprofits Serving Loudoun County Win Competitive Grants

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approved funding to community nonprofit organizations during its May 20, 2025, meeting after a competitive grant process. Grant funding opportunities were made available to tax-exempt, private, nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations that provide a wide variety of services to Loudoun County residents. These services include community-based health and human services and related infrastructure of care services, particularly for underserved residents in the areas of need identified and approved by the Board of Supervisors for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY 2026), which begins July 1, 2025. The areas of need are: Crisis Intervention and Diversion: Services provided to individuals and families in crisis to overcome immediate problems, and reduce or prevent the need for more restrictive and expensive higher-level services.

Improved Quality of Human Services: Services and opportunities provided to individuals, organizations and communities that enhance the quality, accessibility, accountability and coordination of services provided by community organizations.

Long-Term Support: Services that focus on assisting individuals who have continuing, long-term support needs to remain healthy, safe and independent in the community.

Prevention and Self-Sufficiency: Services focused on assisting individuals and families in becoming and/or remaining independent and stable, and providing tools, skills, strategies and resources to individuals and families. The county’s FY 2026 Adopted Budget includes a $2,947,966 allocation for the human services nonprofit competitive grant process and a mini-grant process. In addition, the Board approved the appropriation of $895,072.65 in anticipated FY 2025 year-end fund balance for a total allocation of $3,843,038.65 for nonprofit grant funding for FY 2026. Standard Competitive Grants Through the county’s standard human services nonprofit competitive grants process, 45 nonprofit organizations were selected to receive grant funding for FY 2026. All requests were capped at $113,000 for activities in their grant request. These organizations are:

Competitive Mini-Grants

Four organizations will receive mini-grant funding (requests of $5,000 or less), which helps smaller organizations build capacity or support small-scale innovative ideas or projects. Those organizations, each of which were awarded their requested amount, are:
