Rapes Of Teen Girl For Nearly 3 Years Lead To Sentence In Loudoun County
Prosecutors say the defendant sexually assaulted the teen victim nearly weekly for almost three years.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A man was sentenced In Loudoun County court to prison for rape offenses that happened when the victim was a teen, according to prosecutors.
William George Edwards, 66, was sentenced Thursday to 20 years in prison after a conviction of one count of aggravated sexual battery. Upon release from prison, Edwards would be required to register as a sex offender.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office began investigating in summer 2024 when receiving a report of a sexual assault from nearly two decades ago. An investigation revealed that Edwards sexually assaulted a girl who was 16 at the time from 2003 to 2006. Prosecutors say the victim and defendant knew each other.

According to prosecutors, the first sexual assault happened when the teen's mother was out of town. Edwards gave alcohol to the teen, and she had a "black out" and woke up to Edwards raping her. During one assault, prosecutors say the victim vomited, and Edwards helped her cleaned up and continued the sexual assault. Prosecutors say the rapes continued nearly weekly for almost three years.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and her family, and we hope this outcome will aid in
their healing," said Commonwealth's Attorney Bob Anderson in a statement. "I would like to thank the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office for their thorough investigation of this difficult case. We at the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Loudoun County will do our part to hold perpetrators accountable for their crimes and protect the most vulnerable members of our community, the children."
