Raytheon to Consolidate Intel, Info, Services in Loudoun

The company initially purchased several buildings from AOL and now plans to expand its presence.

Loudoun Economic Development announced Thursday that Raytheon Company has chosen to consolidate the headquarters of its Intelligence, Information and Services business, showing the county’s continued prowess in luring big business.

The decision received immediate praise from several Loudoun officials, including County Chairman Scott K. York (R-At Large).

“With this decision … Raytheon is expanding its already formidable Loudoun presence,” York said in a press release, pointing out the company’s IIS business comprises a significant share of federal government contracting jobs in the region.

Loudoun Economic Development Business Development Manager Steve Hargan said Raytheon has been one of the county’s largest employers since relocating a large portion of its business operations to Loudoun four years ago just east of Ashburn. Hargan said he believes the consolidation news will resonates with defense contractors and other businesses seeking similar demographics.

Loudoun is an ideal location for defense contractors like Raytheon due to our access to federal government agencies, combined with one of the most highly educated populations in the U.S. and top-rated quality of life factors,” he said in the release.

Tom Flynn, the director of Loudoun Economic Development, the move adds to Loudoun’s portfolio of businesses that serve the government, which includes Orbital among others.

“For some time, Loudoun has been a focal point for defense and aerospace companies, with more than two dozen of the nation’s largest defense contractors already operating in the county,” Flynn said. “Our federal government contracting cluster has grown 116 percent in the past decade.”
