Ribbon Cutting For Belmont Ridge Road Widening Planned In Ashburn
With a section of Belmont Ridge Road widened and open, officials in Loudoun County will celebrate the project completion.

ASHBURN, VA — After the Belmont Ridge Road widening project to expand road capacity and options for other road users, officials will celebrate with a ribbon cutting in Ashburn.
Loudoun County and the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority will host the ribbon cutting at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 28 at Edgar Tillett Memorial Park, 21561 Belmont Ridge Road, Ashburn, VA. Board of Supervisors and Northern Virginia Transportation Authority members as well as Virginia Department of Transportation representatives will attend.
The project focused on Belmont Ridge Road between Truro Parish Drive and Croson Lane. The segment was changed from a two-lane rural road to a four-lane median-divided suburban road. Shared-use paths for pedestrians and bicyclists are provided on both sides of the road.

Belmont Ridge Road is a key north-south route connecting to the Dulles Greenway and Route 7. According to the county, the project aimed to alleviate traffic, connect commuters to activity and employment centers and provide "active transportation solutions." The segment of Belmont Ridge Road between Truro Parish Drive and Croson Lane had remained open to traffic during the project, according to the county.
The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, which selects transportation projects to receive regional revenues, provided funding for the project along with Loudoun County and the state's revenue-sharing program through VDOT.
