Roundabout Construction To Begin At Ashburn Intersection
A groundbreaking will be held for a new roundabout being constructed by a developer.
ASHBURN, VA — A groundbreaking will be held for a new roundabout being constructed by a developer at an Ashburn intersection.
Loudoun County government will hold the groundbreaking ceremony at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29 to kick off construction of a roundabout at Waxpool Road and Faulkner Parkway. The developer of the Waxpool Crossing housing development on the northwest quadrant of the Waxpool Road and Ashburn Village Boulevard intersection is constructing the roundabout.
The intersection will be reconfigured into a dual-lane roundabout. The county government says the roundabout will reduce vehicle conflict points to boost safety and improve pedestrian and bicyclist connections through crosswalks.

In conjunction with the roundabout construction, Loudoun County is renaming Faulkner Parkway and a portion of Shellhorn Road west of Ashburn Road to Broadlands Boulevard. The county says that will make the roadway more consistent with areas already named Broadlands Boulevard. Signage with the new name is expected to be installed by the start of August.
