Fire And Rescue Vehicle Strikes Pedestrian In Fatal Loudoun Crash

The sheriff's office is investigating a crash involving a pedestrian hit on Route 7 Friday night.

ASHBURN, VA — A person died in a crash on Route 7 Friday night, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Around 9:45 p.m., sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian struck in the eastbound lanes of Route 7 just west of the Loudoun County Parkway interchange. Authorities believe the pedestrian was hit by a Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System vehicle. Scanner reports indicated it was an ambulance.

The pedestrian, Michael James Singer, 39, of Ashburn, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash closed all eastbound Route 7 for several hours. The investigation remains active.
