Here are the top three stories in Ashburn today:

  1. On Mar. 3, Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares filed a motion for a subpoena
for the release of the Loudoun County Public Schools' independent investigation of the school's sexual assaults from 2021.
Parents and the public have been asking for the release of the internal report to see how the school board and the superintendent handled the sexual assault cases at the schools, but former LCPS Superintendent Scott Ziegler and new interim Superintendent Daniel Smith have refused to release them. The public will learn how much the school officials knew about the assaults if the subpoena is granted and the report is released. (ABC 7)
  2. After State Senator John Bell (D-Loudoun) announced he will not run for re-election due to prostate cancer on Mar. 2, there was a flurry of announcements of those seeking to run for the position. Del. Suhas Subramanyam (D-Loudoun) was first to announce that he would be running for Bell's Senate seat. After, two more candidates, former Del. Ibraheem Samirah (D) and Democrat Kannan Srinivasan, announced they would run for Subramanyam's Loudoun seat, the House of Delegates District 26 seat. (Blue Virginia)
  3. A local Ashburn resident, Aimee Taylor, has kept 699 cubic feet of furniture out of the landfill! Her business, Finished For Good, recycles discarded furniture and refinishes it to create usable wood furniture. Taylor refurbishes the furniture in her garage and then donates the finished pieces to Loudoun Habitat for Humanity so the charity could resell them in their ReStore. She is currently looking for "anyone that has an interest, experience, or warehouse space" to help expand the project. (Newsbreak)
