The shooting occurred around 6 p.m. on Aug. 28 in the 1000 block of H Street, outside the Crab Boss restaurant.
Authorities said that two armed people approached Robinson and attempted to rob or carjack him. Robinson was able to wrestle the gun away from one of the suspects before the other person shot him, the Washington Post reported.
The Washington Commanders placed Robinson on injured reserve as he recovered from the gunshot wounds to his leg.
Exactly six weeks after the shooting, Robinson played in his first ever NFL game. "Everything finally came into the light," Robinson said after the Oct. 9 game against the Tennessee Titans. "I’m just so blessed to be back out there with all the fans, the team, everybody involved.”
During player introductions, Robinson ran onto the field to 50 Cent's "Many Men (Wish Death)," a song about the rapper wrote about being shot 9 times by an attacker in 2000.
"Feeling all of the energy from the fans, obviously everyone who missed the time I was gone. My teammates waiting on me at the end of the tunnel, that was one of those remarkable feelings. I can’t even really explain it," Robinson said about his introduction.
The Metropolitan Police Department is still looking for one of the suspects involved in the shooting. Anyone with more information about the shooting can contact the police department's tip line at 202-727-9099.
