Turnout Low for Primaries in Loudoun

Polls close at 7 p.m.; have you voted?

Voters were not exactly racing to the polls in Loudoun County for primaries Tuesday. Democrats running for statewide office were on Democratic ballots across the county, while some western Loudoun residents in the 33rd House of Delegates District had the opportunity to pick a Republican nominee.

By about 1:45 p.m., the Stone Bridge High School precinct in Ashburn had seen just 13 voters.

“Things appear to be pretty slow in many precincts,” said Loudoun General Registrar Judith A. Brown. Turnout “does appear to be larger numbers in the 33rd House of Delegates District precincts, with a few reporting triple digit numbers.”

Brown said three western Loudoun district had reached more than 100 votes by about 2:40 p.m., the highest being West Lovettsville with 133 votes. However, some precincts were still in single digits, she said.
