VA House 29th District Election 2025: Martinez Wins With All Precincts In
Del. Marty Martinez leads Republican challenger Scott Thomas in the competitive 29th House District race with all precincts in.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Democratic Del. Fernando "Marty" Martinez is the unofficial winner against Republican challenger Scott Thomas in Virginia's 29th House District race in part of Loudoun County.
With all 23 precincts fully reporting, Martinez has 62.61 percent of votes and Thomas has 37.17 percent, according to Virginia Department of Elections unofficial results. Results are unofficial until certified by the State Board of Elections.
Other Democrats won Virginia House races in Loudoun County — incumbent Del. JJ Singh in the 26th District, incumbent Del. Atoosa Reaser in the 27th District and incumbent Del. David Reid in the 28th District. In the 30th District, Democrat John McAuliff flipped the seat held by Republican Del. Geary Higgins.

In the 29th District, Martinez ran for re-election against Republican challenger Thomas. The Virginia Public Access Project labels the district as leaning Democratic.
Martinez is a former Leesburg Town Council member. His campaign website tracks the status of bills introduced in the Virginia Assembly in 2025, including an approved bill to increase unemployment compensation amounts.

Thomas has outlined priorities like improving public safety in areas of concern, boosting veteran support, improving the school accountability system and accuracy in voter roll purges.
All 100 House of Delegates seats are up for grabs in the Nov. 4, 2025 election. The Virginia House and Senate are both Democrat-controlled, while Gov. Glenn Youngkin is Republican. The new election will determine what parties will earn control of the Virginia House and governorship.

Other items on the ballot for Loudoun County voters were governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general, other Virginia House of Delegates races, five Loudoun County School Board seats, Towns of Middleburg and Round Hill elections, and Loudoun County bond questions on school projects, parks and recreation and public safety projects, and transportation projects.
