STERLING, VA—A national fast-casual restaurant brand is coming to the area, and bringing a charity event along with it. Say hello to Newk's Eatery, a Mississippi-based chain the prioritizes pizza, sandwiches and salads. It plans to swing open its doors July 1 at 46515 Harry Byrd Highway, space 190, in what will be its first footprint in Virginia.
To celebrate its grand opening, the restaurant will hold a "community prep rally" 11 a.m.-1 p.m. July 18. Leading up to the event, people will be encouraged to nominate their favorite local charities or organizations for a chance to win a portion of the opening day proceeds through Newk's Eatery's #FeedWhatMatters social media contest.
Two organizations will be chosen to go head-to-head during the grand opening, and the group with the most attendance will receive cash donations, as will the runner-up. Both finalists will win a free catered mean for their organization.
