What's Open, Closed For Labor Day 2024 In Ashburn, Loudoun County
Most government offices will be closed, and some services will operate differently on Monday for the Labor Day holiday.
ASHBURN, VA — Many families will head to beaches, camp sites and other vacation destinations or simply enjoy the last days of the pool during the Labor Day holiday weekend. For the holiday on Monday, many government offices and services will be closed or altered.
Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 2 this year. Here are the openings and closings to know around Ashburn and Loudoun County.
Loudoun County government: Closed on Monday, Sept. 2.

Town of Leesburg government: Closed on Sept. 2.
Loudoun County Public Schools: Schools are closed on Aug. 30 and Sept. 2.

Loudoun County courts: Loudoun County courts will be closed on Sept. 2.
Department of Motor Vehicles: All DMV customer service centers in Northern Virginia will be closed on Sept. 2.
Loudoun County Transit: No bus services will run on Sept. 2.
Library: All Loudoun County Public Library branches will be closed on Sept. 2.
Metro: Metrorail hours are 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. to midnight on Sunday and Monday. All lines run normal service, except the Red Line. Free local shuttles replace trains between Takoma and Glenmont, and Express shuttles operate from Fort Totten, skipping Takoma. Glenmont, Wheaton, Forest Glen, and Silver Spring stations are closed. On Sunday and Monday, normal frequencies will run between Shady Grove and Takoma stations. Metrobus will run on a Sunday schedule on Sept. 2. More weekend Metrorail information is available here.
Outdoor pools: The Lovettsville Community Center Pool will be open from 12 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for the last day of the season on Sept. 2. The Franklin Regional Park Pool and Splash Pad from 11 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. on Sept. for the last day of the season. The splash pad at Hal and Berni Hanson Regional Park will be open from 10 a. m. to 7 p.m., and it will be open until Sept. 29.
Parks and recreation: Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services administrative offices, senior and adult day centers, all community centers, the Round Hill Aquatic Center, and the Franklin Park Arts Center will be closed on Sept. 2. The Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center and the Dulles South Recreation and Community Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Park grounds, including trails, gardens, playgrounds, off-leash areas, skate parks, courts, and fields will remain open from dawn to dusk.
Post offices: Closed on Sept. 2.
Trash and recycling: The Town of Leesburg will have no trash or recycling collections on Sept. 2 and will have a revised schedule that week. Residents with private collection services should check with their hauler for any changes.
