What's Open, Closed For Thanksgiving 2025 In Ashburn, Loudoun County

The Thanksgiving holiday will prompt closures around Ashburn and Loudoun County, and some will continue into Friday.

ASHBURN, VA — Thanksgiving Day falls on Thursday, Nov. 27 this year, bringing a holiday break for students and employees.

Government offices, schools and some businesses will close for the holiday observance. Many government offices and services will also be closed on Friday, Nov. 28 for Black Friday, making it a four-day weekend.

Here are all the openings and closings to know around Ashburn and the rest of Loudoun County for Thanksgiving on Nov. 27 and Black Friday on Nov. 28.

Loudoun County government offices: Closing at 12 p.m. on Nov. 26 and closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28.

Loudoun County Public Schools: ACPS schools and offices are closed Nov. 26 to 28.

Community and senior centers: All Loudoun County community centers will close at noon on Nov. 26 and remain closed on Nov. 27. All senior centers will close at noon on Nov. 26 and be closed on Nov. 27. For adult 55+ services, there will be no bus transportation, lunch programs, or home-delivered meals from Nov. 26 to 28. The Loudoun County Adult Day Centers will be closed starting Nov. 26 and return to normal hours on Dec. 1.

Courts: Loudoun County courts will close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 26 and remain closed Nov. 27 and 28.

DMV: Virginia DMV locations will be closed Nov. 27 to 29. Some services are online at dmv.virginia.gov.

Library: Loudoun County Public Library locations will close at 12 p.m. on Nov. 26 and be closed on Nov. 27 and 28.

Loudoun Transit: Loudoun Transit buses will not operate on Nov. 27 and will run on a reduced scheduled on Nov. 28. On Nov. 28, Commuter Bus service will not operate, including Routes 281, 282, 284, 481, 482, 483, 484, 484, 486, 681, 682, 881, 882, 883, 884, 885 and 886, along with the Loudoun County Courthouse Shuttle from Pennington Garage and Lot to the Courthouse. Commuter Service from Frederick and Prince William County, Local Bus Service (including routes serving the Silver Line Metrorail stations) Paratransit Bus Service and Transit on Demand will run on regular schedules on Nov. 28. On Nov. 26, the Loudoun County Courthouse Shuttle from Pennington Garage and Lot to the Courthouse will stop running at 1 p.m.

Metro: On Nov. 27, Metrorail will operate from 6 a.m. to midnight on a special reduced holiday service schedule at all stations. Metrobus will run on a Sunday schedule. All MetroAccess subscription trips will be canceled, but customers can make a separate reservation to travel on the holiday.

Parks and recreation: The Round Hill Indoor Aquatic Center will have normal hours on Nov. 26 and 28 and be closed on Nov. 27. The Franklin Park Arts Center will close at noon on Nov. 26 excluding evening rehearsal and be closed on Nov. 27 and for visiting hours on Nov. 28. The performance of It's a Wonderful Life will be held on the nights of Nov. 28 to 30. Park offices and visitor/nature centers will close at noon on Nov. 26 and reopen on Nov. 28. Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve will be closed on Nov. 27. Park grounds, including trails, gardens, playgrounds, off-leash areas, skate parks, courts, and fields, are from dawn to dusk daily.

Post offices: Closed on Nov. 27.

Recreation centers: All recreation centers will have normal hours on Nov. 26 and 28 and be open from 5 a.m. to noon on Nov. 27, with no Kid Kare offered. Child care at recreation centers will close at noon on Nov. 26 and remain closed through Nov. 28.

Trash and recycling: For private trash collection services schedule changes, contact your hauler. The Loudoun County landfill closes at 12 p.m. on Nov. 26 and is closed on Nov. 27.

Virginia ABC: Virginia ABC stores will be closed on Nov. 27 and reopen for regular service on Nov. 28. Stores will open early at 8 a.m. on Nov. 28 and close at regular times.
