- Wednesday was not an ordinary day at Blacksburg High School as 14 students decided to sign on as athletes at various colleges. Seven different sports programs from the high school were represented, and the achievement was attributed to the success of the school's athletic program and coaches, as well as the students' perseverance during a challenging year due to COVID-19. - Virginia Tech has started selling football ticket packages for the 2023 season, supplying fans with various options to attend the Hokies' games in Lane Stadium. The packages aim to offer flexibility and value to fans, with the goal of ensuring a full stadium for all six home games. Season tickets are currently available for purchase starting at $350 and guarantee access to the best seating locations. (Hokie Sports)
- The Food Truck Rodeo in nearby Christiansburg will return Saturday, May 6. This will be the first year the event has returned since the COVID-19 crisis in 2020. Guests can expect an array of options, from BBQ to international cuisines. (WDBJ 7 News)

- Join Blacksburg Wine Lab for Full Moon Yoga followed by an Organic Wine Tasting on Sunday, May 7. The yoga flow should last around 60 minutes and will be taught by Brittnay Folcik. All yogi levels are welcome and encouraged. (Wine Lab)
- Natalie Green, a sophomore at Blacksburg High School has won the Steppin' Out t-shirt design contest. Her illustration will be featured on the Steppin' Out shirts. This year's event is scheduled for Aug. 4 and 5 in downtown Blacksburg. (City Of Blacksburg via Facebook)
- Shoutout to this year's 170 Broomin and Bloomin volunteers in Montgomery County! The group managed to collect over 1.3 tons of trash from local roadways, parks, and other places during the clean-up event. (Montgomery County VA via Facebook)
